Chapter 6 - The Choice That Changed Everything

Two weeks later, Marcus and Celeste faced investigation.

Evidence proved they planned to remove Dorian from control of his companies.

But Dorian refused revenge.

Audrey was surprised.

“You’re letting them go?”

“They will answer for what they did.”

“But you could destroy them.”

Dorian looked at the river.

“I know.”

“Then why not?”

“Because Ethan watched enough people choose power over family.”

Audrey looked at him.

“You changed.”

Dorian smiled slightly.

“Maybe.”

“Maybe?”

“Before you came into my life, I thought protecting someone meant controlling everything around them.”

“And now?”

“Now I understand protection also means letting people breathe.”

Audrey smiled.

For the first time, she saw the man beneath the rumors.

Not a king.

Not a feared businessman.

Just a father.

Months passed.

Audrey returned to her normal work.

But things were different.

Dorian helped her open a community health center.

Not as payment.

As a partnership.

And Ethan visited every weekend.

One afternoon, he asked:

“Are you staying?”

Audrey looked at him.

“Staying where?”

He pointed at the mansion.

“With us.”

She smiled.

“I don’t know.”

Dorian appeared behind him.

“Ethan.”

The boy looked embarrassed.

“What?”

Dorian looked at Audrey.

Then said quietly:

May you like

“That is not a bad question.”
