Chapter 7 - The Family He Never Thought He Deserved

Six months later, the Gallow estate was different.

The halls were no longer silent.

There was music again.

Flowers in the rooms.

Life.

Rosa’s condition had stabilized.

She still forgot things.

But she remembered the important ones.

Especially Norah.

“You saved my son.”

Norah smiled.

“No. I just reminded him he was worth saving.”

Across the room, Gabriel heard her.

He walked over.

“You still planning to leave?”

Norah looked at him.

“You still planning to scare everyone away?”

A small smile appeared.

“Probably.”

“Then I guess I’ll have to stay and annoy you.”

For the first time in years, Gabriel laughed.

Not a polite laugh.

Not a dangerous one.

A real one.

Rosa watched them.

Happy.

Because she finally saw what she had always hoped for.

Her son was no longer surviving.

He was living.

Gabriel Gallow had spent his entire life building walls.

Power.

Money.

Fear.

But the woman who entered his home as a hired nurse had destroyed every wall he built.

Not with force.

Not with fear.

With patience.

With honesty.

With love.

And in the end, the most feared man in the city discovered the one thing he never believed he deserved.

A family.
