Chapter 7 - The Voice That Changed the Moretti Empire Forever

One year later, the Moretti Community Theater reopened.

The building was completely transformed.

Modern.

Beautiful.

Accessible.

A place where everyone belonged.

Sofia stood on stage during the opening ceremony.

Hundreds of people watched.

She signed her speech.

Her interpreter translated.

But everyone watched her hands.

Because they were her voice.

Adrian stood in the front row.

Not beside her.

Not speaking for her.

Just watching.

Proud.

After the ceremony, Sofia found him backstage.

She signed:

You are quiet today.

Adrian smiled.

“I am practicing.”

She tilted her head.

Practicing what?

He answered:

“Listening.”

Sofia smiled.

Then hugged him.

A rare moment.

A real one.

Later that evening, Adrian found Lily near the entrance.

She was watching children explore the theater.

“You still refuse to work for me,” he said.

Lily smiled.

“Yes.”

“Why?”

“Because I like knowing you need to ask instead of giving orders.”

Adrian laughed.

A sound few people had ever heard.

“You realize you are the only person in Chicago who talks to me like that.”

Lily looked at him.

“No.”

She smiled.

“I am the only person who makes you listen.”

For once, Adrian Moretti had no argument.

Because the woman who had walked into his world carrying a tray of water had given him something no amount of power could buy.

A lesson.

A reminder.

A second chance.

He had spent years building an empire that everyone feared.

But Sofia and Lily taught him something far more important.

A person could be surrounded by thousands of voices…

and still feel unheard.

The strongest people were not always the ones who spoke the loudest.

Sometimes, they were the ones who finally learned how to listen.

And that was the moment the Moretti empire changed forever.
