Chapter 7 - The Boss Who Finally Came Home

Six months later, Elena Renner stood in the lobby of her building.

The same building Marcus had bought.

The same place where she had once stood with a broom and anger.

But everything had changed.

The security guards were gone.

The fear was gone.

The building had become a place where people actually knew each other.

Neighbors talked.

Children played downstairs.

The management office actually answered complaints.

Elena looked around.

"Still can't believe you bought an entire building because I couldn't sleep."

Marcus stood beside her.

"I had other reasons."

"Security."

"Yes."

"Protection."

"Yes."

She smiled.

"And maybe because you liked the woman in bunny slippers."

Marcus looked away.

"I never said that."

"You didn't have to."

---

A year after their first meeting, Elena returned to the penthouse.

But this time, she didn't carry a broom.

She carried a small gift.

Marcus opened the door.

He looked at her.

Then down.

And smiled.

Because she was wearing the same pink bunny slippers.

"You kept them?"

"Of course."

"Why?"

She shrugged.

"Historical importance."

"Historical?"

"They survived a confrontation with the most intimidating man in the city."

Marcus shook his head.

"You are impossible."

"And you like that."

A pause.

"Yes."

The answer came easily.

No hesitation.

No fear.

Elena smiled.

---

That evening, they sat together on the balcony.

No meetings.

No threats.

No enemies.

Just quiet.

Marcus looked at her.

"I never expected you."

Elena tilted her head.

"Expected me?"

"My entire life was built around control."

He looked toward the city.

"Then you walked into my apartment at three in the morning and told me to stop walking."

She laughed.

"You were being annoying."

"I was."

"And arrogant."

"I was."

"And terrifying."

Marcus looked at her.

"Still?"

She pretended to think.

"Less."

"Less?"

"Much less."

He smiled.

---

A few months later, the city heard unexpected news.

Marcus Vale was getting married.

Many people didn't believe it.

The man who had spent his entire life avoiding love.

The man who trusted almost nobody.

The man everyone called cold.

Was choosing one woman.

Not because she needed protection.

Not because she was useful.

But because she saw him.

The real him.

---

On their wedding day, Elena stood beside Marcus and looked at the crowd.

Many people still feared him.

Many people still whispered his name.

But she knew the truth.

The man beside her wasn't the monster everyone imagined.

He was the man who remembered her broken sleep.

The man who bought an entire building to keep her safe.

The man who learned that love wasn't a weakness.

It was the one thing worth protecting.

Marcus leaned closer.

"Still think I walk too loudly?"

Elena smiled.

"Sometimes."

He raised an eyebrow.

"Sometimes?"

"Yes."

"And what happens when I do?"

She looked at him.

"I bring out the broom."

For the first time in his life…

Marcus Vale laughed without caring who heard.

And everyone finally understood something.

The most dangerous man in the city had never been defeated.

He had simply found the one person brave enough to stand in front of him.

May you like

And tell him to be quiet.

THE END
