Chapter 5 - The Truth Noah Was Trying To Tell

The next day, Dominic looked at the drawing.

He didn’t speak for a long time.

Finally, he whispered:

“My son saw something.”

I nodded.

“Yes.”

His hands tightened.

“Two years ago, Noah was in the car when his mother died.”

I looked at him.

“The police said he was unconscious.”

“They were wrong.”

The room felt colder.

“Noah survived because his mother pushed him away before the attack.”

I covered my mouth.

“He saw who was there.”

Dominic looked toward the window.

“But he was four years old. Nobody believed him.”

“Because he stopped talking.”

“Yes.”

A painful silence.

“Everyone thought he was broken.”

I looked at Noah sitting nearby.

“He wasn’t broken.”

Dominic looked at me.

“No.”

His voice was quiet.

“He was protecting himself.”

That afternoon, Dominic confronted Ethan.

I wasn’t supposed to be there.

But I was.

Because Noah had grabbed my hand before Dominic left.

He didn’t want to be alone.

The meeting happened in the private office.

Ethan smiled.

“You finally found something?”

Dominic placed the drawing on the desk.

Ethan’s expression changed.

Only slightly.

But enough.

“You recognize it.”

“No.”

Dominic stepped closer.

“You killed my wife.”

Ethan laughed softly.

“That’s a serious accusation.”

“Not from me.”

Dominic pointed toward the hallway.

“From my son.”

For the first time, Ethan looked afraid.

Only for a second.

Then he recovered.

“You’re letting a traumatized child destroy fifteen years of friendship?”

Dominic’s voice became cold.

“You were never my friend.”

The security team entered.

Ethan was taken away.

But before leaving, he looked at me.

“You have no idea what you’ve stepped into.”

I didn’t answer.

Because for the first time…

May you like

I wasn’t afraid.
