Chapter 2 - The Man Who Looked Exactly Like Vincent Calder

The abandoned lighthouse cottage stood silent against the gray coastline.
The wind moved through the trees.
The ocean crashed against the rocks below.
But Vincent Calder heard nothing except Lily’s words.
“There’s the other you.”
He stared toward the cottage.
The figure was gone.
Sarah pulled Lily closer.
“Sweetheart, who did you see?”
The little girl pointed toward the trees.
“Him.”
“Who?”
Lily looked at Vincent.
“Mr. Vincent.”
Sarah’s face tightened.
“Lily, honey, that is Mr. Calder.”
“No.”
The child shook her head.
“That one is different.”
Vincent slowly stepped forward.
“What was different?”
Lily looked thoughtful.
“He had the same face.”
A cold feeling moved through Vincent.
“The same face?”
She nodded.
“But his eyes were angry.”
Sarah looked at Vincent.
For years, she had seen powerful men intimidate him.
She had seen people fear him.
But she had never seen anyone make Vincent Calder afraid.
“Vincent,” Sarah whispered, “what is happening?”
He did not answer.
His eyes remained fixed on the lighthouse.
Because deep inside, he already knew.
Someone from his past had returned.
---
That night, Vincent locked himself inside his study.
Sarah stood outside the door for almost ten minutes before knocking.
“Come in.”
She entered slowly.
Vincent stood near the window, looking at the ocean.
“Is Lily okay?” he asked.
“She’s sleeping.”
A pause.
“Did she really see someone?”
Vincent did not respond immediately.
Sarah stepped closer.
“I need you to tell me the truth.”
Most people were afraid to speak to Vincent that way.
But Sarah was not.
Not when it involved her daughter.
Finally, he turned.
“Years ago, there was someone who looked like me.”
Sarah frowned.
“What do you mean?”
“My older brother.”
The room became quiet.
“You never mentioned having a brother.”
“Because everyone believes he is dead.”
Sarah stared.
“Is he?”
Vincent looked away.
“I watched him disappear.”
---
Twenty years earlier, Vincent Calder and his brother Adrian were inseparable.
They built everything together.
Until one night changed everything.
Adrian betrayed him.
He stole money.
He betrayed people who trusted them.
And then he vanished.
Everyone assumed Adrian died.
Vincent accepted that story.
Until now.
Until a three-year-old girl claimed she saw him standing by the ocean.
---
The next morning, Vincent gathered his security team.
His right-hand man, Marcus, entered the study.
“You wanted to see me?”
Vincent placed a photograph on the desk.
Marcus looked at it.
His expression changed.
“No.”
“Yes.”
“That’s impossible.”
Vincent stared at him.
“Find out.”
Marcus hesitated.
“If this is who we think it is…”
“I know.”
“What do you want us to do?”
Vincent looked toward the hallway.
Where Lily’s laughter could be heard.
“Protect my family.”
Marcus noticed the word.
Family.
Not house.
Not business.
Family.
May you like
And that told him everything.
