Chapter 4 - The Man Who Betrayed the Moretti Family

The next morning, Vincent Moretti’s mansion was no longer peaceful.

It was a fortress.

Security surrounded every entrance.

Phones were checked.

Records were reviewed.

Every employee was questioned.

Because Vincent had discovered the worst kind of betrayal.

Not from an enemy.

From family.

Dominic Vesceri sat across from Vincent in the private office.

For twenty years, they had sat in that room making decisions together.

Now there was a security team standing behind Vincent.

And Dominic was the one being watched.

“You helped me build everything.”

Vincent stared at him.

Dominic looked exhausted.

“I did.”

“Then why?”

The lawyer looked away.

“Because I was tired of standing behind you.”

Vincent’s expression didn’t change.

Dominic continued.

“You had everything.”

“A family.”

“A company.”

“Respect.”

His voice became bitter.

“And I was always the man cleaning up your mistakes.”

Vincent leaned forward.

“So you stole from me?”

Dominic shook his head.

“You don’t understand.”

“No.”

Vincent interrupted.

“You’re right.”

His eyes turned cold.

“I don’t understand how someone can hurt a child to protect money.”

Dominic became silent.

That was the answer.

Later that afternoon, Isabella sat with Ellie in the garden.

For the first time in months, she smiled.

Ellie held her stuffed rabbit.

“Do you miss your mommy?”

Isabella nodded.

Ellie looked down.

“I miss my daddy when he works late.”

Isabella looked at her.

Then whispered:

“Your daddy loves you.”

Ellie smiled.

“Your daddy loves you too.”

Two little girls.

Two broken families.

Finding comfort in each other.

Claire watched from the doorway.

And she realized something.

Isabella wasn’t healing because of doctors.

She was healing because she finally felt safe.

That evening, Vincent received a phone call.

The police had found the final piece.

The car accident report had been altered.

Sofia’s death was not random.

Someone had tampered with evidence.

Someone wanted the investigation closed.

Vincent listened quietly.

Then he asked:

“Who signed the paperwork?”

The answer came.

Dominic Vesceri.

Vincent closed his eyes.

The last piece of the puzzle was complete.

Dominic had not just betrayed him.

May you like

He had tried to erase Sofia’s truth.
