Chapter 6 - The Truth About Sofia’s Death

The trial lasted six months.
Dominic’s crimes were finally revealed.
The stolen money.
The company fraud.
The destroyed evidence.
The attempt to hide Sofia’s discovery.
But the most important testimony came from someone nobody expected.
Isabella.
Vincent wanted to protect her.
But Isabella wanted to speak.
She stood in court holding the small swan music box.
The judge looked at her gently.
“Are you ready?”
Isabella nodded.
“Yes.”
Everyone froze.
Because that single word carried years of pain.
She looked at Dominic.
“You scared me.”
Dominic lowered his eyes.
“I’m sorry.”
But Isabella shook her head.
“You didn’t say sorry before.”
Silence.
“When Mommy was alive, you told her nobody would believe her.”
Dominic looked up.
The courtroom became still.
“You told me to stay quiet.”
A tear fell from Isabella’s face.
“But Daddy found me.”
Vincent looked away.
Unable to hide his emotion.
His daughter had finally defeated the fear that controlled her.

After the trial ended, Vincent visited Sofia’s grave.
He placed the swan music box beside the flowers.
“I kept my promise.”
He whispered.
“I protected her.”
The wind moved softly.
For the first time in years…
